Review: Based on what everybody said, Real Steal is like Over The Top plus Rocky with Robots. Over The Top because theres a man, his son, and a truck. Rocky because its obvious. Put these films together and add robots and minus Stallone. Real Steel is not very innovating though but its excitingly great and has plenty of heart. Its also the return of Hugh Jackman although we just saw him a little last June. There are lot of things to recommend in Real Steel.

The premise isnt really that intriguing. Its boxing replaced by robots. Films with Giant CGI Robots are not innovating since we have Michael Bays Transformers. But the heart and soul lies to the relationship of Charlie and Max and their robot, Atom. Its fun to watch them. The fighting scenes are pretty exciting. That is what most underdog fighting movies do. The only problem here is the weak major antagonist. Its not really that threatening or a big deal. Ricky was more threatening than the gigantic Zeus.

The filmmaking is pretty decent. Well shot scenes. The CGI robots and the music score are good enough. Nothing to say about the production design except Charlies truck. It looks fascinating for some reason. The performances were great. We dont see Hugh Jackman in action movies after two years and theres a small cameo of him, flipping off two characters(its obvious but I wont tell you the title). Here in Real Steel, Jackman is energetic and somewhat perfect for the role. Dakota Goyo is a bit charming. Chemistry of him and Jackman shines through the film. Its fun to watch them together.

There arent much new here in Real Steel but in the end, its enjoyable and has plenty of heart. The climax isnt so much overwhelming but it intends to be more heartfelt. Again, its like Over The Top which the father is trying to make his son proud and Rocky because its boxing and add some robots in it. Even without thinking much about the robots, there is always human heart in this film. Hugh Jackman does it again. The underdog fighting movie genre does it again. Its really a fun film for the whole family.

Review: Paul W.S. Andersons reboot of the Three Musketeers is one of those movies you should see with one expectation only: to be entertained without straining your brain.

It is an enjoyable adventure movie that never takes itself too serious, reminiscent of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The cast members seem to have enjoyed their parts as they display a mellow playfulness, with Orlando Bloom being the exception as he seems a little over strained in his role as a bad guy. But even his helpless overacting can be overlooked in a movie that seems to be very self-aware about its ultimate goal, to deliver two hours of mindless entertainment.

Logan Lerman should be positively mentioned, because once you get over his haircut, he delivers a nice performance as the cocky, young hot-shot D Artagnan, with a good sense of timing for his (mostly cheesy) onliners and a great agility in the fighting sequences.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie in 3D and look forward to a sequel. Recommended to anyone who appreciates silly entertainment with great visuals from time to time. See it in the cinema!

Review: My girlfriend got invited to a screening of this movie and though I tried to wiggle my way out of it, I was trapped into going. Walking into the theater with the worst possible predisposition, I have to admit I left smiling.

Men will immediately sympathize with the Chris Evans character: Slacker/musician/womanizer. Not the classic perfect catch man of these type of movies, which is breath of fresh air. I am not particularly fond of Farris, but she was another pleasant surprise. She makes her character very likable and though pursuing a completely ridiculous task she is absolutely relatable. Excellent character development by both, we see them grow and change and their on screen chemistry is just right. The reason I think the movie is perfect for all is that it has the right amount of romantic elements, mixed with a fair amount of raunchy and naked butts to keep everyone laughing. Not once during this movie did I feel it was falling into a sappy whole, and trust me I am the first one to stick two fingers down his throat when that happens (sorry for the image).

This movie definitely brakes the mold of Romantic Comedy, hopefully this is the direction they will take in the future. Lets make one thing clear: If you go see Whats your number? be ready to laugh, be entertained and have a fun time. Dont expect The Godfather, cause it aint.

Review: Inspirational films are often difficult to review. The movie is inspirational for a reason; therefore, its usually telling a story of someone making the best out of a bad situation. The problem is that no one wants to be the person to say the movie isnt worth watching. Thankfully, Dolphin Tale isnt one of those movies. Dolphin Tale tells the true story of Winter, a dolphin who due to a very unfortunate accident loses her tail and the group of people who help her to survive despite her handicap.

Director Charles Martin Smith, best known for his roles in The Untouchables and Never Cry Wolf, takes a heartfelt story and presents it just as is. The movies lead is a young actor named Nathan Gamble, who plays Sawyer Nelson. Gamble is surrounded by high level talent, which you usually dont find in movies of this type, Ashley Judd, plays Lorraine Nelson, Sawyers mom, Morgan Freeman, working alongside of Judd for the third time, plays Dr. McCarthy, a VA doctor tasked with trying to create a working prosthetic to replace Winters tail; and Harry Connick Jr. is doctor Clay Haskett, who runs the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and along with his team is mostly responsible for saving Winters life. Judd provides an endearing charm as Lorraine, and her enthusiasm shines through. There couldnt have been anyone better to play Dr. McCarthy than the great Morgan Freeman. Freeman gives credence to Dr. McCarthy and, thanks to him not being in the right frame of mind, his dedication to creating a new tail for Winter. The charismatic Harry Connick Jr. gives a stellar performance, providing Sawyer with a role model. Cozi Zuehlsdorf makes her acting debut as Hazel Haskett, Sawyers best friend. Along with Sawyer, the two of them work together to make some magical happen. Zuehlsdorfs shining personality and adorable smile, along with her chattiness, reminded me of what makes my own daughter so special. Not to be overlooked or forgotten, Winter the Dolphin plays herself and is a wonder to watch.

Dolphin Tale teaches and inspires in so many ways. It teaches us to not judge anyone that may be different; it teaches us that family is forever, it inspires us to be role models; it inspires single parents to keep up the great work; and most importantly it inspires those that have set back to never give up. Winters story is an incredible miracle. As I sat between my son, whos almost 8, and my daughter who is 5, I couldnt help but well up with tears at the determination of these extraordinary people as they all went above and beyond in the hopes of saving a fish; yes, I know that dolphins are mammals and are not really fish. At the end of the movie, I asked my kids how they liked it and they both said that they loved it. They then asked me how I liked it, and my response to them was, I think that may have been my favorite movie so far this summer. I no longer have to think about it, it IS my favorite movie so far this year.

Review: Now this is my style of comedy. It has a great plot, hilarious dialog, awesome actors and a good amount of action. Eisenberg stars as Nick, a pizza delivery driver who never delivers the pizza in time. He hangs out with his friend, Chet and get drunk. On the other side of town are Dwayne and Travis, two slacker friends want money and try to open a tanning salon/brothel. Dwayne decides to hire a hit man to kill his rich dad, but he needs $100,000 to do so. At random, they get Nick to deliver them a pizza, but they knock him out and strap a bomb to his chest. If he doesnt rob a bank within ten hours, they will detonate the bomb. Nick asks Chet help him in robbing the bank. (The scene when theyre robbing the bank is hilarious!) Will Nick get the money to Dwayne before times runs out? If you want a dirty dark comedy, youll love 30 MINUTES OR LESS!!!

Review: Generic and predicable thriller made somewhat bearable by the undeniable chemistry and acting chops between Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, even though both actors involved deserved better than what they were giving with the material. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz work very well together on screen ( and supposedly in real life as well) but they should have waited for a better film to showcase their chemistry and acting chops then this film, which not only does not respect their efforts in trying to bring humanity and credibility to a badly written script but does not even try to at least capitalize on their efforts in bringing more to the movie. Instead, the movie goes into several different unnecessary directions that goes no where and drags this film down. Naomi Watts is good as well but i just did not think much about her character and found her an unnecessary, forced inclusion to the story that ruins the film by making it even more predictable than it already is. The film also feels like it was two separate movies before it became one. Its a ghost story then it moves into a mystery with out it making much sense, not to mention the fact of how predicable the whole structure is. Lets just say that you have in fact seen this story before.

Its alright for what it is but it could have been much more, especially with two great actors (Weisz and Craig) having great acting chemistry on screen.

Review: First off, let there be no doubt Melancholia is an amazing movie, a one of a kind experience. But it is also a strange movie. Strange because some parts are just so much better than others. From divine touch of genius to actually really rather bad. There are parts that are so strikingly beautiful that you can not help being mesmerized, theres superb directing resulting in amazing, almost screen transcending acting (and this is from the girl from Bring it on, mind you), and there are parts were sound and imagery merge with such impact that you get blown away. But then there are parts that feels just the opposite, some characters are portrayed surprisingly flat and their dialog and behavior seems contrived at best, almost like they never got beyond a crude first draft in the writing. The mother and the boss especially could have been watered down and integrated with more finesse IMO. It sounds like no biggie but its such a stark contrast to the brilliance you find in other parts of the movie e.g. the subtle and tender portrayal of the groom and his love and affection for his troubled wife. Regardless and in spite of these rather prominent shortcomings I was sucked in from the mind blowing opening and my emotions were once again stripped bare and exposed at the signature killing blow finale. As before with Triers films, I stumbled out of the theater, all numb and profoundly touched.

Review: Johnny English is back! The film kicks off swiftly indeed, with English being retrained for service. If there is one impressive thing, the pacing is spot on. Whilst the first film lent more towards witty dialog, Reborn relies more on visual gags. Standout sequences include English on a gadget powered wheelchair racing down the streets of London, along with the majority of action scenes. The chair gag in Mi7 is also most welcome. The music composer must be commended for a rousing score, frequently referencing the Johnny English Theme, particularly during the splendid opening titles sequence. The cast is solid, particularly Rosamund Pike. Whilst Ben Miller does not appear unfortunately, Daniel Kaluuya does an average job of replacing the sidekick role as Agent Tucker. The other performances are pretty spot on.

Overall Oliver Parker and Rowan Atkinson have made a fun, entertaining film, barely missing the heights of the first adventure. Stay for the after credits scene!

Review: I sensed what the moving making powers that be were thinking when they made this movie, Take 3 action stars plus 1 super hot blonde equals money. Simple enough of a formula to get people in the theaters. My expectations were not that high for this film. But what I found reminded me of a Bourne Identity feel for some odd reason, but with more action and less suspense. Injecting the film with reality was Yvonne Strahovski, who made the story believable. I did like the whole 1980 thing the movie had going on as well, which some of these reviews might have missed when they watched the film.

There are many memorable moments, none of which I am going to tell you.

One of two issues I had with the film is the distance I felt with the characters. They felt close to each other on screen, but not close to me, if that makes any sense. I could have used 5 or 10 minutes getting to know the characters a bit better. Halfway through the film I realized I had forgotten all the characters names, and it was all facial recognition. Secondly, I could have used a bit more humor. I guess when making movies on real events it is hard to get a good laugh without coming off corny. I think they missed an opportunity there with Yvonne Strahovskis character.

I would have given this movie 7 stars, but it did not seem right considering just how much enjoyment I got out of it and such a solid performance of the actors.

Review: You might hear one comparing this to a Tarantino film, but leave all worries at the door, this is an absorbing and tremendously unique piece of cinema from Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn. The reason it works so exquisitely well is because the film grabs hold of you and takes you inside this often dark and dream-like LA setting. So, when the end of the film hits, you feel apart of this film, and it is there to stay.

This film also offers a Ryan Gosling like you have never seen him, speaking only when necessary, with tension and fury in his eyes. He is silent, caring, and ridiculously tough. Every line is delivered perfectly and every gesture is natural.

I saw this at the LA Film Festival on a mammoth screen with booming speakers. The music only makes this film more unique. It is catchy and synchronized perfectly with the TRULY beautiful cinematography.

This film is the BEST of its genre. I honestly cannot compare it to any other film, for it is truly that different. Drive is already the best of the year, because I’m POSITIVE no other film will haunt and invade me quite like this film has. This is not just a classic for its genre, but a beautiful and bold classic in general.

Review: The premise is interesting, and I feel, fairly well carried out although I would have liked the movie to go another 15 or so minutes to really build the suspense more, I blame sloppy Direction for that. The actors all acquitted themselves well, but I am getting a little weary at Mario Bello turning up all over the place as everyones mother. I have never forgiven her for her painful portrayal of Evie O Connell in Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, her accent was like fingernails down a blackboard, that was a criminal piece of miscasting. Moving along, I think any problems with this movie lay completely in the lap of the directionless Director and Writers who should have kept the script tighter.

There was plenty of action, there was just more time spent on inconsequentials than background to the story. I gave it 8 stars which is generous, normally I would have give a movie of this quality a 7, but it needs a boost from the 3 stars its currently sitting on. I actually think the cause of the resistance is in no small part because Taylor Lautner is in it. And not because he isn’t any good, it’s the Twilight cringe factor. I will be very pleased when the whole Twilight franchise is over and buried so we can all forget it and judge the actors and their future roles on their own merits. It was fun at first, but now it is just old. If Taylor Lautner can keep getting parts like this and do them as well as he did this one (those kicks were impressive) I am sure he will be making movies into his 30s at least. If only he were taller! As for Lily Collins, I am now looking forward to seeing her in Mortal Instruments, I just hope someone does something about those ghastly thick eyebrows of hers, they are disturbing, and worse than that, distracting.

Review: Contagions plot is simple. A woman(Gweneth Paltrow) has just gotten back from Hong Kong and two days later, she bites the dust, and is named Project 0. But as it turns out her disease is spreading across America, and its up for the scientists to get to the bottom of it, and the citizens to get away from it.

Contagion plays like your usual plague movie. It involves a bunch of characters, including a father(Matt Damon) and his daughter, a crackpot journalist(Jude Law), scientists(Including Kate Winslet, welcome back by the way, Laurence Fishburne, and Marion Cotillard). The genre is hard to capture, mainly because a lot of the ideas have been used before.

But the film is what I call the Magnolia of disaster movies. The one that others should look up to, and remember and cherish forever. Contagion is more of a character study, and all of the characters are real and we deeply care about them.

This is also the most stylish plague movie ever. The way the music and the mood transcend together works so well. The performances are strong from everyone, and the film is chillingly real. I may not believe in 2012, but Contagion makes you wonder. It makes you wonder a lot. Germs just keep spreading and spreading. And I hope peoples love for this film just keeps spreading and spreading. This is the best film of the year so far.

Review: Its always nice when you see a movie trailer that looks pretty good, and then when you see the movie it far exceeds your expectations. The Debt, a remake of a 2007 Israeli movie of the same name, is a suspenseful espionage thriller about a team of Israeli Mossad agents as they attempt to track down the Surgeon of Birkenau. The movie incorporates flashbacks and flash-forwards in a controllable fashion, with approximately half the movie taking place in 1966 and the other half taking place in 1997. The film is based on a screenplay co-written by Jane Goldman and frequent co-collaborator, Matthew Vaughn, a rising star known for his writing and directing of films such as the underrated Kick Ass and the 2011 summer hit X-Men First Class. Director John Madden, best known for his Oscar winning movie Shakespeare in Love, crafts an intriguing film that although predictable at times keeps you engaged. In The Debt, Madden has made some great choices in casting, beginning with Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson, both of whom provide stellar performances. Jessica Chastain, Martin Csokas, and Sam Worthington, although not having any Oscar nominations of their own, give captivating performances during the movies most brooding scenes.

I enjoy espionage films, such as Munich, Spy Game and North by Northwest, immensely. The Debts strength, much like those other three films, is that its character and story driven and not dependant on action or special effects to maintain its viewers. The pacing is steady and theres a lot of intensity as the agents attempt to accomplish their mission. The subject matter of the film is a dark one, and thats reflected in the film. Unlike your neighborhood police department or county sheriffs department, intelligence agencies do whatever is necessary to get the result they are seeking such as, some uncomfortable visits, for the patient as well as the viewer, with Dr. Bernhardt, played disturbingly by Jesper Christensen The movie kept me intrigued throughout, and I find myself often sliding up to the edge of my seat, unable to tear my eyes away from what was happening. As the film drew to a close, most questions are answered and closure is provided, unlike just about every other movie made today

Review: I am a horror fan and I am a huge fan of the found footage horror films, like The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, REC and Paranormal Activity. And I have to say that Apollo 18 is another great found footage film. I know that with these films being marketed as real, people expect something different, but as all horror fans know by now, this isnt the case.

You can compare Apollo 18 to nearly all found footage horror films but that does not make the horror any less effective, there are some really good scare scenes in Apollo 18 that do make you jump quite a few times, which is something I have experienced since Paranormal Activity. Like Cloverfield the alien creatures are not fully revealed, we only see a few glimpses of the rock like creatures that do resemble crabs or spiders.

The acting is really good by the two cast members, and the storyline is simple but works really well. The tension does build throughout the film, and when they enter the dark shadows of the craters, it becomes unrelenting.

My only downside to the film is that it ended too soon, I believe that they could have ended it in a better way, but I still really enjoyed this film. If you are a fan of The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, or any other found footage horror film, then give this a try and do not be put off by the negative reviews. It is one of my favourite found footage films that I have seen.

Ellis who directed films such as Homeward Bound II, Snakes on a Plane, and Final Destination 2 and 4 was most predictable to direct this film and what I mean is that his last movie The Final Destination was a bit campy and cheesy but overall not as bad as films such as Halloween II which came out on the same day that year.

The Sharks were very detailed but they lacked some things in the CGI department such as the way some of the sharks moved and attacked. First of all Sharks are more likely to eat a seal or even a near dead whale that humans and people have a better chance of having a coconut fall on there head and dying or being killed by a bee sting to even attacked by a shark. They even mentioned that in the film. And another thing. Piranha 3D took nearly 2 and a half years to make and Shark Night took about 10 to 11 months and it truly did feel a little bit rushed.
